He was predeceased by: his parents, Omie Hill Callahan and Frank Callahan; his stepmother Ora Mae Callahan; and his sister Kay Smith. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Sue Lawson Callahan; his daughters, Tammy Polston (James) of Lumberton, Terri Callahan and Sherry Callahan; and his great grandchild Gavin Mayers. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
