It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Burton Heyward Calvert Sr. of Lumberton, North Carolina, born in Fingerville, South Carolina, who passed away on May 17, 2024, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearson Andrew Calvert and Annie Burton Calvert; his siblings, Jesse, Jack, Harry, Richard Calvert, Annie Dawkins, Dorothy Mathis and Sara Garris; and his former wife Margaret Rogers Calvert.
He is survived by: his children, Burton Heyward Calvert, Jr. (Karen) of Golden, CO and Kay Calvert Mead (Glenn) of The Villages, FL; his grandchildren, Thomas Calvert (Jennifer) of Louisville, KY, Allison Petersen (Chris) of Golden, CO and Kimberly Ragan (Trevor) of Wake Forest, NC; his stepdaughter Barbara McKenzie-Tervo (Jay) of Beaufort, NC; his stepgrandchildren, Ashley Ware and Caroline Tervo; his stepdaughter Julie McKenzie Jones (Steve) of Greenville, NC; and his stepgrandson Benton Jones (Allison) of Raleigh, NC..
