He was predeceased by: his parents, John Robert "Bobby" Burns and Carlene Kinlaw Burns; and his sister Susan Leigh Burns. He is survived by: his children, Ashley Burns Todd (Jimi Wilson) of Wilmington, NC and Jonathan Clegg Burns (Tiffany) of West End, NC; his grandchildren, Evan Ilan Todd, Tilden Lucas Todd, Andrew Moore and Carleigh Pearl Burns; and his siblings, John Robert Burns, Jr. (Debbie Hammonds), Beth Burns Ward (Ricky) and Sarah Kelly Burns (John Capps). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
