He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Andrew Hammond and Beulah Mae Lowry Hammond; and his brothers, Billy Ogene Hammond and Lloyd Andrew Hammonds. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Chavis Hammonds; his children, Dwight Chavis (Shenna), Shauna Hammonds, Cindy Hammonds and Thomas Chavis (Jonie); his siblings, Franklin Hammonds, Ledger Hammonds, Ronald Hammonds, Betty Rae Oxendine, Celia Jane Hammonds and Wyvonne Locklear; his close friends, Jimmy Lowery, Talton Locklear, Roger Hunt and Jerry King; Melissa Billings. He is also survived by thirteen other grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
