He was predeceased by: his parents, Alma Walton and Edgar Walton of Red Springs, NC.; his siblings, Lula Mae Lawson (Frank Lawson) and Herbert Walton; and his brother-in-law Lonnie Brisson.
He is survived by: his wife Lucy Dell Walton; his children, Eugenia Walton of Lumberton and Sonny Walton (Vonnie); his grandchildren, Coleman Bartley (Taylor), Korbyn Walton and Kaloni Walton; his sister Pat Brisson; and his sibling's children, Debra Ann Osborne (Wayne) and Teddy Lawson (Sandra).
