He was predeceased by: his parents, Elias Wilby Tyner and Hilda Adelaide Odum Tyner; his former wife Carrie Joyce Hand Tyner; and his daughter Anita Tyner. He is survived by: his wife Ada Beatrice Burchett Tyner; his children, James Wilkins (Linda) of Lumberton, Carrie Sonia Samuelson of St. Louis, MO and Sara B. Tyner of Kansas City, MO; his siblings, Stanley Tyner (Frances) of Lumberton, Lloyd Tyner (Barbara) of Murrels Inlet, SC, Rev. Tim Tyner (Nancy) of Lumberton, NC, Steve Tyner (Martha) of Franklin, NC, Anita Shaw of Lumberton, Wanda Kelley of Lumberton and Norma Bullock (Ned) of Orrum, NC; and his grandson Alex Samuelson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
