He was predeceased by: his parents, James Vernon Edwards and Annie Davis Edwards; his wife Janie "Jan" Rowell Edwards; his children, Wayne Owens and Diane Owens; and his siblings, James Evan Edwards, Mary Newman and Betty Jo Edwards.
He is survived by: his daughter Jackie Britt (Leonard) of Lumberton; his grandchildren, Janice Denise James (Don "Scooter"), Sara "Becky" Norton (Les), Mark Floyd, Billy Cook (Selena), Kevin Rexrode (Sheena) and Amy Bethea (Bud); and his siblings, Richard Ray Edwards of Lumberton, Harold Dean Edwards of Hattiesburg, MS and Dorothy Pittman of Lumberton. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
