He is survived by: his wife Clyde; his children, Kent (Paula), Anne, Melanie, John IV (Elizabeth) and Shannon (Roger); his grandchildren, Brendan, John, Ross, Lacey, Mary Slade and Sydney; his sister Betsy McKee Collett (Webster); and his sibling's children, Beth Collett Thomas and Zach Collett.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Lumberton Christian Care Center, or the United Way of Robeson County.
