He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Furman Howell and Alberta Smith Howell; and his brothers, Stacy Lee Howell and Weldon Howell. He is survived by: his siblings, Furman Howell of Lumberton, Bobby Howell (Shirley) of Lumberton, Glenn Russell Howell (Vanessa) of Lumberton, Steve Howell (Nichele) of Lumberton, Myra Graham of Lumberton and Kenneth Graham; and his close friend Synthia Jones. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
