He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Coleman and Annie Hester; his brothers, Downey Hester and Phillip Hester; and his half-siblings, Clarence Hester, Lewis Hester, Norwood Hester, Wilton Davis, Naomi Guyton, Mable Benton, Pauline Davis, Mary Little, Myrtle McKeithan, Jewel Soles, Lillian Simmons, Leola Quattrocchi, Hattie Mae Lewis and Annie Neal Russ.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Hester; his sons, Russell Hester (Laurie), Michael Hester and Ricky Hester; and his grandchildren, Amanda Gooch (Michael), Sara Hester, Ryan Hester (Katie), Shannon Hester, Jamie Hester (Alisha), Jay Hester, Guy Hester (Amanda), Jessica Hester and Jonathan Hester. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
