She was predeceased by: her significant other Douglas Robert Shipman; her parents, Arthur Ballew and Mary Ballew; and her siblings, James Herbert Ballew, Paul Gary Ballew, Fredrick Arthur Badgero, Ronald Luthur Ballew and Mary Elaine West Stuart.
She is survived by: her sisters, Beatrice Keller of Monroe and Mary Carrol (Bill) of Asheville; her children, Sandy Raymond West (Janet) of Burnsville, John Arthur West (Jennifer) of Bakersville, James Kevin West (Sherry) of Rockingham and Pamela Snyder (Ronnie) of Lumberton; and her great grandchild Ava Jean Brayboy. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren.
