He was predeceased by: his father Albert Britt; his stepmother Frances Britt; his mother Hattie Sellers Britt; his wife Shirley Barnes Britt; his son Jeffrey Oliver Britt; and his siblings, A. J. Britt, Elma and Zelma Britt.

He is survived by: his daughters, Julie Britt of Alexandria, VA and Belinda B. Locklear (Patrick) of Lumberton; his grandchildren, Ashley Holmes (Rex) and Makaila Chyane Locklear; and his great grandchild Jaxton Oliver Holmes.
