He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon M. Blackwell and Inez Suggs Blackwell; and his wife Anetha Nance Blackwell. He is survived by: his son David Earl Blackwell of Redwood City, CA; and his siblings, Odell Blackwell of St. Pauls, NC, Bobby Blackwell of Tar Heel, NC, J. W. Blackwell of Hope Mills, NC, Glenda Faye St. Romain of Tarboro, NC and Bernice Blackwell of High Point, NC.. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
