She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Dowless and Annie Bell Thompson Dowless; her son Lacy Meares; her sister Annie Mae McLean; and her grandchildren, Robin Meares and Jimmy Lee.
She is survived by: her daughters, Vickie Dowless of Lumberton, Shirlene Fields (Glenn) of Lumberton and Carolyn Mercer (Randy) of Lumberton; her grandchildren, Angela Lee Prevatte, P. J. Meares, Cory Mercer, Cody Mercer, Michelle Davis and Brittany Smith; her great grandchildren, Alyssa Raven Prevatte, Gemma Noelle Prevatte and Rylee Burnett; and her sisters, Hazel Neal, Joann Meares and Barbara Britt.
