He was predeceased by: his parents, Forrest Hardin and Bertha Bledsoe Hardin; his wife Glenda Phyllis Prevatte Hardin; and his siblings, William Glenn Hardin (Billy) and Kathryn Hardin Edwards.
He is survived by: his children, Gail Dudney (Eddie) of Lumberton, NC, Stephen F. Hardin, Jr. (Becky) of Lumberton, NC, Jenny L. Hardin of Lumberton, NC, Anthony Hardin (Dawn) of Lumberton, NC and Waylon Hardin (Kimberly) of Lumberton, NC; his siblings, Forrest Hardin of Hope Mills, NC and Mary Ann Robinson of Fayetteville, NC; his grandchildren, Melissa Hall (Wade), Amanda Baxley (Keith), Rebecca Kordes (Jon), Brooke Clabaugh (Micah), Kayleigh Hardin, A. J. Hardin, Sarah Hardin and Sadie Hardin; and his close friends, Richard Evans of Lumberton, NC., L. M. Evans of Lumberton, NC. and Stonie Brewer of Lumberton, NC.. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
