He was predeceased by: his close friend Loelear Eddings; his son-in-law Larry "Toby" Carter; his grandson Michael Carter; and his siblings, Joe, Gilbert, Fred, Randolph, Hal, Roscoe, Lester, Juanita Eddings Locklear and Louise Eddings Cummings.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Audrey C. Strong, Daren Strickland, Angela King, Bobbie Groom, Anthony Bryant, Melinda Colson, Penny Nunnery, Adam Courtney and Tristan Locklear; his brother Curtis Eddings; and also, Evelyn C. Hunt (Larry) of Lumberton, NC, Mabel Eddings of Lumberton, NC, Selecia Cummings of Lumberton, NC, Myrtis McCluskey of Eagle Creek, OR, Carolyn Carroll of Southport, NC and Reba Courtney of Myrtle Beach, SC. He is also survived by 14 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
