He was predeceased by: his parent Sammie McPeters; and his siblings, Alma McPeters Riddle and Robert. He is survived by: his parent Lena Ray McPeters; his wife Evelyn Hamlin McPeters; his children, Karen McPeters Newman (Gary), Kent McPeters (Karen) and Mark McPeters (Myra); his brother Kenny Wayne McPeters (Glenda); his grandchildren, Melissa Newman Johnson (Brandon), Bradley Newman (Melissa), Jocelyn McPeters Dryman (Daniel), Matthew McPeters (Hayley), Nathan McPeters and Kara McPeters; and his great grandchildren, Owen, Ivy Johnson, Avery, Sullivan Newman and Levi Dryman.
