He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeff Theus and Catherine Williams Theus; his brothers, Bill and Jeff Theus; and his friend Qumilla Hempbill.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Theus; his children, Joyce Theus-Ree, Mary Theus and Elder John Theus, Jr. of Kansas City, MS.; his brother Haywood Theus of Houston, TX; and his close friends, Leroy Boogie McClease, John Simms and Loretta Winslow. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
