He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles William and Hazel Bradford Knighton; and his brother Drew Miles Knighton. He is survived by: his wife Susie Knighton; his children, David Knighton (Lynn) of Swannanoa, Brenda Hayes (Mike) of Marion and Regina Elliott (Jim) of West Virginia; his siblings, Barbara Rector of Morganton and Johnny Knighton of Marion; and his siblings-in-law, Lorraine Knighton of Minnesota, Wally Harvey (Betty) of Old Fort and Calvin Penland of Marion. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
