He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Nelson Letterman and Anna Mae Letterman; and his former wife Willie Faye Wilson Letterman. He is survived by: his wife Madonna Burnette Letterman; and his children, Loretta Summerlin (Kenneth) of Yancey County, John C. Letterman, Jr. (Teresa) of Glenwood, Carolyn Cook (James) of Spruce Pine, Terry Letterman of Burnsville and Jerry Letterman (Vicki) of Mitchell County. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
