She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Miller and Hattie Forbes Miller; her husband Charles Vernon Atkins; her former husband Bill Cureton; and her son Rev. Vernice "Bud" Atkins.
She is survived by: her children, Violet "Sis" Smith (William), Helen Price (Kenneth), Alice Creech (Harrold), Bobby Atkins (Connie), Nita Ann Smith (Dean), Charles B. Atkins (Sharon), Robin Grindstaff (David) and Vickie Bryant (Greg); her brother Tommy Miller (Carolyn); and her daughter-in-law Alma Atkins. She is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren.
