He was predeceased by: his parents, Hurley Chaney and Rossie Medlin Chaney; his son Galan; his siblings, Joyce Bivens (Doug) and Hayden; and his brother-in-law Fernander Rushing.

He is survived by: his wife Juanita Deason; his daughter Roslyn Ross (David); his grandson Wesley Crofts (Katie); his siblings, Lucille Rushing and Aubrey (Frances); and his sister-in-law Loretta Chaney. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
