He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Chavis; his daughters, Stephanie Woods (Clay Hunt) of Maxton and Joy Jacobs (Stephen Locklear) of Laurinburg; his daughter-in-law Tiffany Woods of Maxton; his parents, James Ellis Chavis of Maxton and Fannie Mae Chavis Brewer (Darrell) of Laurinburg; his brothers, Chuck Chavis (Angela) of Laurinburg, Ellis Chavis (Tammy) of Laurinburg, Ricky Chavis of Laurel Hill and Bobby Chavis (Tina) of McColl, SC; his grandchildren, Makayla Woods, Lexus Woods, Madison Heaton, Reagan Strickland, Riley Woods, Brittany Woods and Eric Heaton; his siblings' children, Destiny Chavis, Tiara Chavis, Amber Chavis, Chuck Chavis II and Michael Owens; his cousin Haley Cook; and his close friend Charles McLaurin.
