She was predeceased by: her parents, Harley B. Gaston and Mary Margaret Scott Gaston. She is survived by: her sons, Charles Allen Bates, Jr. (Michelle Hauck Bates) of Charlotte and Edward Gaston Bates (Erin Norton Bates) of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Tucker A. Bates, Cooper G. Bates, William A. Bates, J. Wyatt Bates, Nolan M. Bates and J. Parker Adams; and her sister Joanne G. Schenck of Shelby. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The wearing of a mask and social distancing will be observed.
