He was loved and cherished by many people including : his wife Ella Smith Butler; his parents, Ward Beecher Butler of Roseboro, NC and Jeanette Austin Butler Lightbody of Morganton, NC.; his siblings, Robert Bryan Butler (Sally) of Raleigh, Mary Butler Johnson (John) of Raleigh and Jean Butler Bender (Allen) of Pollocksville, NC.; his nieces and nephews, Brad Austin Butler (Rebecca) of Columbia, MD, Cameron Johnson Wilson (Rich) of Sherrills Ford, NC, Tracey Johnson (Mark Lovvorn) of Ramseur, NC, Holly Bender Ladner (Scott) of Holly Springs, NC, Mary Ann Bender LeRay (Jeremy) of Pollocksville, NC and April Bender McKeel (Johnny) of Walstonburg, NC.; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Joshua Beecher LeRay, Justin Allen Woolard, Madison Taylor McKeel, Sydney Teague McKeel, Kate Elizabeth Ladner, Luke Taylor Wilson and Abel Butler Wilson.
