He was predeceased by: his father Harold McWhirter. He is survived by: his mother Sheila McWhirter (Tolbert); the mother of his children Melissa Marie Huffman; his stepfather Rick Haywood; his children, Daylin James McWhirter and Isabell Marie McWhirter; his aunts, Carol McWhirter Sloan and Janice McWhirter; and his cousin Shelley Sloan Ellis.
