He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey J. Barker and Lucille Wells Barker; and his siblings, Dailey B. Hardee of Greenville and Wayne M. Barker of Semora. He is survived by: his wife Lela Frances Clayton Barker; his children, William H. "Hank" Barker (Angela Dunn Barker) of Roxboro, Deborah L. Barker of Roxboro and Tracey Clayton Barker (Julie Harris Barker) of Holly Springs; his grandchildren, Morgan Lee Barker of Charlotte and Blakely Ann Barker of Holly Springs; and his sisters, Frances B. Kirby of Roxboro, Ann B. Gravitte of Surfside Beach, SC and Sue B. Chattin of Danville, VA.
