He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Wheeler and Ethel Gesek Wheeler; and his siblings, Clark, Lawrence, Carol and Marilyn.

He is survived by: his children, John Wheeler (Lisa), Gregory Wheeler and Patty Hazeltine (Dana); his brother Jim Wheeler (Kathy); his grandchildren, Ian Wheeler, Dana Hazeltine, Megan Hazeltine and Benjamin Wheeler; and his great grandchildren, Chloe Wheeler and Fiona Wheeler.
