He is survived by: his daughters, Janet Deason (Monty), Julie Baker (Aaron), Bonnie Medlin Jr. (Larry), Linda Faye Helms and Melissa Bullard; his grandchildren, Ashley Baker, Erika Baker and Jake Medlin; his brothers, Clinton Helms and Johnny Helms; and his pets, Cadillac, Buddy and Tater.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
