He was predeceased by: his parents, Ursie Reid and Ida Perry Reid; his wife Flossie Irene Stowers Reid; his daughters, Darlene Auger, Doris Blaylock and Patricia Hurley; and his sisters, Edna Salinas and Betty Reid.
He is survived by: his son Darrell Carpenter of Concord, NC; his sisters, Helen Long of Las Vegas, NV and Jewell Jackson of Morganfield, KY; and his pet Toby. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and 8 great- great grandchildren.
