He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennie Otis Bean and Edith Rothrock Bean; his sisters, Francis Bean Pierce and Joyce Bean Beck; and his grandson Stephen Bean.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Alverson Bean; and his children, Timothy Bean, Mark Bean (Donna), Rebecca Martin, Martha Van Eerden (Scott) and Thomasville. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
