He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Massey and Dessie Helms Massey; and his great grandchild Everett Gene Penegar. He is survived by: his sister Helen Todd; his wife Barbara Troutman Massey; his children, Marianne Sain (Larry), Kim Graham (David) and John Massey (Danielle); his grandchildren, Jeremy Sain (Caitlin), Jennifer Penegar (Kyle), Jessica Wilson (Luke), Jacob Graham, Julia Graham, Carson Massey and Avery Massey; and his great grandchildren, Tinley Wilson, Harper Wilson, Evelyn Penegar, Emmett Penegar, Eleanore Penegar, Sophia Sain and Emma Sain.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Elegance Event Studio (3808 Meeting St, Lake Park, NC 28079).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110.
