She was predeceased by: her parents, Crayton Ray Melton and Wincie Corrine Starnes Melton; her husband Chester Roscoe Helms (CR); her son Chris Helms; and her brother Reverend Elwin Melton.
She is survived by: her daughter Crystal Hasty (Donnie) of Monroe; her grandchildren, Brook Helms of Monroe, Joy Helms of Monroe and Casey Helms (CJ) of Monroe; her siblings, Herbert Melton of Monroe, Jackie Melton (Nancy) of Monroe, Nelda McDonald (Paul) of Charlotte, Tommie Stegall (Walter) of Monroe and Ellen Cox (Butch) of Monroe; her sister-in-law Ora Lee Melton of Winston-Salem; and her aunt Brenda Harrington.
