She was predeceased by: her parents, John Lexie Axley and Elizabeth Carolyn Medlin Axley; her husband Kenneth L. Carter; and her brothers, Archie Axley and Johnny Axley.

She is survived by: her children, Rusty Carter (Mendie) of Wingate, NC and Crystal Fowler (Clay) of Monroe, NC; her siblings, David Axley (Ida) of Oak Island, NC and Marie Axley of Kings Mountain, NC; and her grandchildren, Austin Fowler and Brooke Fowler.
