He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hasty Hicks; his parents, Morris Hicks and Bonnie Ergle Hicks; and his brother Christopher Hicks (Vickie Harper) of Charlotte, NC..

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110.
