It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mildred Joyce Smith (Monroe, North Carolina), who passed away on September 12, 2019, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dexter Laney and Girvous Laney; her husband Marcus; and her brothers, Billy Ray Laney (Floroy) and Tim Laney (Darren).
She is survived by: her daughters, Avanda Starnes (late Donald) of Monroe and Terri Ann Smith of Monroe; her brother Danny Laney (Kathy); her grandchildren, Donald "Jeffery" Starnes (Marie) of Monroe and Heather Starnes Brown (John) of Waxhaw; and her great grandchildren, Carter, Porter Starnes, Owen and Calvary Baptist Church Monroe.
