She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Fortner and Lelia Gunter Fortner; and her husband William Russell Thompson. She is survived by: her children, Wayne Thompson (Julie), Stanley Thompson and Bonnie Harris (Mike); her brother Gene Fortner; and her grandchildren, Kara Starnes, Katie Haywood, Kassie Clark, Anna Harris, Joshua Harris and Caleb Harris. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
