He was predeceased by: his parents, John Minton and Laura Tedder Minton; his daughter Barbara Day; and his siblings, J. D. Minton, William Minton, Grace Lovette, Christine Smithey, Geneva Minton, Virginia Minton, Mildred Smithey, Dorothy Wayne and Betty Smithey.
He is survived by: his son Ricky G. Minton (Dorothy) of Newton; his grandson Joshua Minton (Ofelia) of Newton; his great grandchildren, Aaron Morgan of Newton and Darius Minton of Newton; his daughters, Carolyn Clemmons (Randy) of Taylorsville and Linda Lineback of Boomer; and his sibling's children, Kathy Goforth of Mt. Pleasant, Nancy Russell of Moravian Falls and Perry Smithey of Moravian Falls. He is also survived by several other grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
