With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Swindell Wayne Barnes of Morehead City, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 17, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Barnes and Berta Barnes; his wife Annie Ruth Brantley Barnes; and his siblings, Jerry Barnes, Russell Barnes, Shirley Moss, Donald Barnes and Elsie Carrell.
He is survived by: his children, Sherry Lynn Peel (Kevin) and Mark Wayne Barnes (Janet); his sister Pat McIntyre; his grandchildren, Caitlin Peel, Zachary Barnes and Norman Peel (Kathryn); and his great grandchildren, Savannah Michelle Barnes, Annie-Jean Barnes, Jameson Thomas Peel and Kally Ann Peel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Munden Funeral Home & Crematory (2112 Arendell St, Morehead City, NC 28557). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Munden Funeral Home (2112 Arendell St, Morehead City, NC 28557). A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at the Gethsemane Memorial Park (700 NC-24, Newport, NC 28570).
