He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Odell and Annie Mae McGhinnis Freeman; his children, Chrystal Freeman, Richard Freeman and Arthur Freeman; and his great grandchild Brandon Roper.
He is survived by: his wife Mary S. Freeman; and his daughters, Billie Clemons (Big Bill) of Knoxville, TN and Jerry Steffey (Joe) of Morganton, NC. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
