She was predeceased by: her parents, Wilson Kincaid and Rucker Kincaid. She is survived by: her husband James "Jim" Cates; her sons, Bryan Cates (Stephanie) and Christopher Cates; her grandchildren, Wilson, Michael, Coral and Joy Cates; and her siblings-in-law, Iris Ragland (Jack) and Bill Cates (Filomino).
