He is survived by: his daughters, Amy Umsted of Morganton and Deanna Steiner of Asheville; his grandchildren, Sarah Jane Umsted and Zackary Scott Umsted; his great grandchild Shelby Grace Umsted; and his siblings, David Homer Smith, Ray Clifton Smith, Brenda Faye Cook and Glenn Edward Smith.
