Josie Little Cooper Speas Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Josie Little Cooper Speas (Morganton, North Carolina), who passed away on December 4, 2019 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Grover Cleveland Little and Lucy Hamilton Little of Newton; her husband Nathan Cooper, Sr.; her former husband Herbert Speas, Sr. of Morganton; her son Cleve Cooper of Drexel, NC; her stepdaughter Deborah Peacock of Goldsboro, NC; and her sisters, Lucy Little Ayers of Greensboro, NC and Janice Little Merrill of Lakeland, Florida..
She is survived by: her sons, Joe Cooper (Elizabeth) of Hickory, John Cooper (Jefflyn) of Fort Mills, Hal Cooper of Drexel and Herbert Speas, Jr. (Marchalle) of Morganton. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Speas was the last surviving grandchild of Dr. Q.M. Little of Catawba, and as such, the family is requesting memorial contributions be may made to the Town of Catawba Historical Association (P.O. Box 147, Catawba, NC 28609) which operates the Dr. Q.M. Little Museum.
