She was predeceased by: her parent William Sidney Whisnant; her husband Clyde Smith; her great grandchild Jake O'Connor Moody; and her siblings, Dickie, Bennett, Ervin, Gene, Ed Whisnant, Catherine Rector and Sue Cline.
She is survived by: her parent Mamie Secrest Whisnant; her sons, Christine "Becky" Carswell (Manley) of Morganton and Kathy Glazebrooks (Steve) of Granite Falls; and her grandchildren, Jerry Smith (Carolyn) and Harold Smith (Lisa). She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and her friend and caregiver.
