He was predeceased by: his parent Foster Abernathy; and his siblings, Robert Abernathy, Walter Abernathy, Elease Powell and Orene Abernathy.
He is survived by: his parent Bertha Mace Abernathy; his sisters, Nadean Whitley of Nashville, TN, Beatrice Denton (Preston) of Morganton, Nell Griffin (Dennis) of Morganton and Carolyn Powell (Donnie) of Valdese; and his sister-in-law Irene Abernathy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
