He was predeceased by: his siblings, Fred Hightower and Evelyn; and his great grandchildren, Keaton and Keylee Robinson. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Peterson Hightower; his children, Ray Hightower (Sandy) of Morganton, Eddie Hightower (Donna) of Morganton, Malinda Hester of Morganton, Sheila Rhom (Wesley) of Morganton, Todd Hightower (Krista) of Morganton and Terry Pittman (Patricia) of Morganton; and his grandchildren, Christine Sawyer (Brian), Ray Hightower (Karen), Trenton Hightower (Sherri), Tristan Hightower, Honnye Robinson Jeremiah Hightower (Bradley), Nicholas Honeycutt, Clay Rhom (Megan), Dalton Rhom, Chandler Rowe, Alicia Pittman and Jessica Haqq (Shalaby). He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
