It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rex Gardner of Morganton, North Carolina, who passed away on September 6, 2020, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Daniel Gardner and Mable Todd Gardner; his wife Jeanette Dodd Gardner; his son Ned Dean Higgins; his sisters, Shirley Norton and Bernice Gardner Boone; and his grandchildren, Crystal Banks and Lawrence Gardner.
He is survived by: his sister Joyce Van Patton of Leicester; and his children, Alma Jean Barns of Burnsville, Rex Allen Gardner (Barbara) of Morganton, Linda Diane Gardner of Burnsville, Rhonda Marie Cox (Adam) of Drexel, Denise Lyvonne Gardner of Morganton, Chloe Mello (Mike) of Candler and Raymond Higgins (Tracy) of Burnsville.
