He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Burleson and Sarah McKinney Burleson; and his siblings, Mabel Hughes (Gus), Hazel Tipton (Pete), Oran Burleson, Marjorie Buchanan (Charles), Janice McClellan (Bobby), Paul William "Howard" Burleson (Helen) and Jess Burleson, Jr. (Ruth).
He is survived by: his wife Billie King Burleson; his siblings-in-law, Bobby King (Nancy) of Newland and Sally Lou Rominger (Dana) of Banner Elk; and his sister Janet Buchanan (Pat) of Newland. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
