He was predeceased by: his parents, Broadus Long and Roberta Morgan Long; his children, Susan Long and Wesley Long; and his sister Betty Goldstein.
He is survived by: his wife Joanne Werling Long; and his children, Melinda Ann Long of Missoula, Sarah Long Dauchez of Blue Ridge, Abigail Bohem of Lambertville, Molly Burkholder of Boise, Bridget M. Alan of Cancun, Mexico, James Lewis Long III of Murphy and Eric Long of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
