We are sad to announce that on June 1, 2021, at the age of 67, Rodney Walter Bates (Murphy, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Finley Jr. and Elza Lou Davis Bates; and his brothers, Charles F. Bates III and Larry Francis Bates. He is survived by: his wife Karen Dockery Bates; his children, Robin Bates Caldwell (Robert) of Brasstown, Kimberly Bates Henson (Joshua) of Hayesville, NC and Jonathan Bates (Shereen) of Murphy; and his grandchildren, Katelyn, Parker Caldwell, Matthew, Levi Henson, Jesse Bates (Nichole Fore Bates) and Jacob Bates (Adrianna Yonce).
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in memory of Rodney Bates to Gideons International, PO Box 164, Murphy, NC 28906.
